Project:50Leaves

50Leaves

Project:50Leaves is a personal project that aims to bring back a love of reading to people who are willing to bring the love back. At first, it was an aim to read at least 50 books in a year. On its second year, it has now realized that its more of trying to read and enjoy as many books as possible in a year.

The basic point of the project is to go back to a love of reading, moving away from school and work requirements. It’s about setting aside time to read books that we love reading, amidst the stressful things in life.

How to join:

i. Leave a page/entry dedicated simply to this project. Entitle it 50Leaves.

ii. On that page/entry write down (in numerical form) A title of the book/s you are reading B author of the book you are reading C a vague idea of the date you finished the book (doesn’t need to be specific, could be just the month, or could be down to the exact date). If the book you are reading gets finished kindly put on bold the entire line.

Ex.

1. The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown (finished around April)

2. Angels and Demons by Dan Brown

iii. Once you’ve written a page and followed at least A and B of the previous number, please don’t forget to link to this specific page on your blog (and entitle it as Project:50Leaves) and please don’t forget to leave a comment below with your name and link url to your 50Leaves blog entry/page.

iv. At the end of the year, leave a tally at the end of the list saying how many books you’ve finished. It would be easy to count since the books you’ve read will be in bold.

v. Extra bonus. If like me, you like to write reviews, you can choose to do so. Write your reviews on a separate blog entry then link to them via your 50Leaves list. Just please remember to keep your page neat and clean.

vi. P.S. The manner in which you want to make the list is optional. Haha. I think I made it too complicated. As long as you have the name and author of the book, and as long as you (in some way) inform people which books you are already done with, then any format is acceptable. 🙂 Thanks.

Let’s start the year of with a productive dream! Cheers!

For any suggestions, please leave your comments here. Thank you. 🙂

P.S. If you’re curious as to where the other 50Leaves pages (from the blog header) went, I’ve moved them into their own posts so that they take up less space. You can go to those pages from this page entry, as you may see on the links above. I’ve moved them into posts dating December 31 of those respective project years.

  4. I want to join this! I’ve been reading less and less books lately and it’s about time that i devote more time to reading things i love, and not required by teachers and professors.

I’ll send you my link when I’m done writing my entry. 🙂

  7. Hey… the nice things you can find through bloghopping. I really like this project of yours. I’ve been going back to reading a lot of books just lately though not as much as I’d like.
It’s too late in the year for me to join though. Will this be back in 2011? 🙂

    • Hey there! Blog-hopping is definitely fun. Haha.

Thanks! 🙂 I get what you mean. If only I could read books daily for the rest of my life, I think I’d be happy. Haha.

Yes, this will be back in 2011. It’s just a personal project, not anything huge. Just trying to get back into reading books the way I used to. 🙂 Would appreciate it if you’d join then. We should all go back to readings books as much as we can. Hahaha.

      • Oh, I’ll definitely join this next year then. It’s always good to have some sort of motivation (other than the pleasure of reading itself, of course) to read. Besides, with this, you get ideas on which good books to plow through next.
I’ll be keeping myself updated 🙂
