My Smiling Face

Smile by Tamia

Sometimes i sit at home and wonder how it be if he had loved me truely loved me yes, i learned
Awhile ago that kind of thing it never happens for me, and so i go around and just pretend love
Is not for me i play the circus clown around my friends make them laugh and they wont see that
U never let them see u sweat dont want them to think the pain runs deep, Lord know its killing me

[Chorus:]
So i put on my make up put a smile on my face and if anyone ask me everything is ok im
Laughing cuz no one knows the joke is on me cuz im dyin inside with my pride and a smile on my
Face…on my face singing, la la la, la la, lalala, la la, la la, la la, la la, la la, la la la
Laaaa

Sometimes i sit at home by the phone hopin he might call me but he dont call me but then i
Realize dreams come true arent for girls like me not like me, and so i go around with my head
Up like it aint no thing and when the boys around with all my friends im into other things cuz
U never let them see u sweat dont want them to think the pain runs deep, lord knows its killing
Me

[Chorus:]
So i put on my make up put a smile on my face and if anyone ask me everything is ok im
Laughing cuz no one knows the joke is on me cuz im dyin inside with my pride and a smile on my
Face…on my face oooh

Its not easy (thing to do) sometimes its hard to (face the truth) its not the life that i
Would choose but what else can i do if he dont love me no if he dont want me im not about to
Sit around let myself go (gooooo)

Laaaa ill keep singing la la la la la, lalala, la la, la la, la la, la la, la la, la la la
Laaaa ill keep singing la la la, la la, lalala, la la, la la, la la, la la, la la, la la la
Laaaa ill keep singing la la la-la la la, lalala, la la, la la, la la, la la, la la, la la la
Laaaa

Lyrics from here.

I’ve recently been discussing with some friends how sometimes experiences or situations in life would provoke us to hide behind a smile, a smile that would hide away all our fears and anxieties. This song, was shared to me by my friend, Kel after I posted a question on plurk asking if people hid behind a mask the way I did sometimes. The song really struck me for some reason. On my personal blog on livejournal, I promised myself that I would be a positive thinker and stop thinking negative thoughts, but sometimes these things just pop out of nowhere, and one can’t help but feel a bout of negativity now and then.

It’s true what they say about the smiling face, and how it can hide all the pain that we feel inside. So sometimes I wake up sad and depressed, but as soon as I’m dressed, I put on my smiling face and hide it behind the clothes and the make-up, behind the laughs and the smiles, and behind the perky and carefree attitude. Sometimes, life calls for us to hide behind a facade to keep others from knowing the real pain that lies within.

This smiling face that you see everyday, doesn’t necessarily mean that deep down, I’m smiling too. Sometimes, I just want to cry and to let it all out, but such things are truly not permissible.

  1. Negative thoughts help us grow too. A place with only positive thoughts exists only in dreams. The ability for negative thoughts to be positive also holds.

I think everybody hides behind a smiling face or two. Or I like to think everybody does. Everybody has that little something nobody knows, a secret if you will, if not we’d all be open books. With that said, it’s almost…natural in a way. Like it’s just a part of what makes you human.

Almost like it’s perfectly normal. It really just depends what it is that’s behind our masks. Pent up negativity ultimately affects our mood and concentration in the end so they should really be exited from the body and mind on a daily basis. Whether it’s solving the matter or overcoming the emotion (you know that feeling you get when you listen to a really uplifting and motivational song; that).

Facade is a part of the human package. How we choose to make of it is the only time we’re allowed to criticize facades.

    • Impossible Utopia, haha. Most of the time, I’m actually like an open book. Read-able and naive, but yeah, I have a hidden side behind the smile. πŸ™‚

Oh cool. You’re really something Khyoon. Inspirational speaker! Oh, and thanks for sharing the Jay Chou song~ *hug*
